Amazon app has been quietly removed from google play find out why?

When Amazon updated its primary Android app with an "Apps & Games" section, it was a milestone in third-party distribution: finally, you could access Amazon's library of applications without side-stepping Google Play. It didn't last long -- Amazon's app store mysteriously disappeared from Google Play this week. Well sort of, the URL for the Amazon app's product page is still active, but it's no longer searchable from within Google Play. Why the sudden return to the status quo? It's exactly what you'd expect: Google didn't like facing competition from within its own app store.

Amazon contests that its updated app is still the best way to experience its marketplace on Android, but said in an official statement that it had to be removed following an update to Google's Developer Distribution Agreement. Android Police dug up the specific wording and found that the agreement now bars any app that "facilitates the distribution of software applications and games for use on Android devices outside of the Store." Previous versions of the distribution rules only banned apps whose "primary purpose" was app distribution - the loophole that allowed Amazon to put its app store on Google Play in the first place. In response, Amazon is releasing a new Amazon Shopping app to Google Play /without/ access to its own app library. Want the complete, integrated experience instead? You'll have to download it from Amazon's website, just like before.

Nigeria private, public schools to remain closed till October  13th

Nigeria private, public schools to remain closed till October  13th

The federal government yesterday suspended the resumption of both public and private primary and secondary schools in the country till October 13, 2014.

Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau made the announcement after meeting with states’ commissioners of education to discuss the risk posed by the dreaded Ebola virus disease in the education sector.

The minister said: “All primary and secondary schools, both public and private are to remain closed until Monday, 13th October, 2014, which is the new school resumption date for all schools throughout the federation.

“This is to ensure that adequate preventive measures are put in place before the students report back to school.

“All state Ministries of Education are to immediately organize and ensure that at least, two staff in each school, both public and private are trained by appropriate health workers on how to handle any suspected case of Ebola and also embark on immediate sensitization of all teaching and non-teaching staff in all schools on preventive measures. This training of staff must be concluded not later than 15th September, 2014.”

He further directed that, “ All state Ministries of education should establish a working and monitoring team for effective supervision of school activities before and after opening of schools. Each state ministry of education should appoint a designated desk officer not later than 1st September, 2014, who should also receive appropriate training and who must report on daily basis to the honourable Commissioner on situation in the schools. The names of such desk officers, their phone numbers and e-mail addresses should be communicated to the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education not later than 1st September, 2014.

“All primary and secondary schools, both public and private, should be provided with a minimum of two (2) blood pressure measuring equipment by the state ministries of education. The state ministries should determine the number of such equipment required and forward same to the Federal Ministry of Education not later than 1st SWeptember. [They] will liaise with the Federal Ministry of Health to ensure that appropriate equipment are procured.”

Shekarau stressed that all the above measures also apply in all federal government colleges. He directed that all ongoing summer schools in both public and private schools be suspended with immediate effect.

“All private primary and secondary schools must comply with the directives given under these preventive measures. State governments are called upon to support their state ministries of education with all necessary funds to ensure effective implementation of these preventive measures.”

The federal government also directed all states government to sanction any private or public school that doesn’t comply with the directives.

The Minister added that, “Our concern is for the children and we would go to any length to ensure both private and public schools comply. You can imagine if a child is infected in a boarding school of say about 600 children; it would be very dangerous.

“We are not saying there is Ebola in all states of the federation, but we are putting preventive measures in place.

Tips on securing your phone where cybercrime exist

Tips on securing your phone where cybercrime exists!
1.When browsing or shopping on your phone, always look for "https" in the url instead of "http." which shows an added level of security
2.Don't allow automatic connections.Disabling this option will prevent your phone from connecting and transmitting data without you knowing
3.Treat email and social media requests from strangers suspiciously.Criminals often send requests to people they don't know to gather info.
4.Be a savvy shopper. Make sure you're not being taken in but doing business with legitimate vendors.
5.Check privacy settings on apps. Some apps request a lot of information from you,If they don't need all of that information then deny access
6. Avoid fraudulent Wi-Fi networks.

JUDGE RULES IN FAVOUR OF SANUSI

JUDGE RULES IN FAVOUR OF SANUSI
...orders Nigeria to pay him 50 Million Naira as damages and return his passport.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Federal Government to pay Suspended CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi the sum of $300,000 ( N50 Million) as damages for seizing his passport without due process.

Judge Ibrahim Buba, who ruled in favour of the Plaintiff, Sanusi, said the actions of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) “deserve condemnation” and ordered it to return Sanusi’s passport immediately.

The DSS “has no power to seize the passport of any citizen” without due process, Buba added.

The Defence attorneys for the SSS, said Sanusi's passport was seized because they had evidence he was financing terrorism in Nigeria.

But the Plaintiff's Counsel, said the allegation was an "Afterthought" by the Federal Government and he wasn't charged with any crime involving terrorism.

The Judge added that, the SSS should make a public apology to the plaintiff for violating her rights to freedom of movement.

What do you think of this ruling? Is the Judge right to rule in favour of Sanusi? Could the verdict be influenced because the court was sitting in Lagos, the home of the All Progressive Congress (APC)? Do you think the Nigerian Government violated Sanusi’s right when they seized his passport?

Let's talk.

Read this Real story, "The Real Hero of The Titanic"

Read this Real story, "The Real Hero of The Titanic"
John Harper .....Hero of the Titanic. It was April 15, 1912, when HMS Titanic sank beneath the icy waters of the North Atlantic, taking with it 1517 lives. As the rear of the huge ship began to lurch upwards, it was reported that Harper was seen making his way up the deck yelling, "Women, children and unsaved into the lifeboats!" It was only minutes later that the Titanic began to rumble deep within. Most people thought it was an explosion; actually the gargantuan ship was literally breaking in half. At this point, many people jumped off the decks and into the icy, dark waters below. John Harper was one of these people.
That night 1528 people went into the frigid waters. John Harper was seen swimming frantically to people in the water leading them to Jesus before the hypothermia became fatal. Mr. Harper swam up to one young man who had climbed up on a piece of debris. Rev. Harper asked him between breaths, "Are you saved?" The young man replied that he was not.
Harper then tried to lead him to Christ only to have the young man who was near shock, reply no. John Harper then took off his life jacket and threw it to the man and said, "Here then, you need this more than I do..." and swam away to other people. A few minutes later Harper swam back to the young man and succeeded in leading him to salvation. Of the 1528 people that went into the water that night, six were rescued by the lifeboats. One of them was this young man on the debris.
Four years later, at a survivors meeting, this young man stood up and in tears recounted how that after John Harper had led him to Christ. Mr. Harper had tried to swim back to help other people, yet because of the intense cold, had grown too weak to swim. His last words before going under in the frigid waters were, "Believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus and you will be saved." Does Hollywood remember this man? No. Oh well, no matter. This servant of God did what he had to do. While other people were trying to buy their way onto the lifeboats and selfishly trying to save their own lives, John Harper gave up his life so that others could be saved.
"Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends..." John Harper was truly the hero of the Titanic!

Facebook is buying mobile messaging service WhatsApp for up to $19 billion

Facebook is buying mobile messaging service WhatsApp for up to $19 billion in cash and stock in the firms biggest ever acquisition.

The world's biggest social networking company said that it is paying $12 billion in Facebook stock and $4 billion in cash for WhatsApp.

In addition, the app's founders and employees will be granted $3 billion in restricted stock that will vest over four years after the deal closes.

Facebook says it is keeping WhatsApp as a separate service, just as it did with Instagram, which it bought for about $715.3 million.

'The acquisition supports Facebook and WhatsApp's shared mission to bring more connectivity and utility to the world by delivering core internet services efficiently and affordably,' the social network said.

WhatsApp has more than 450 million monthly active users. In comparison, Twitter had 241 million users at the end of 2014.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says WhatsApp is on path to reach a billion users.

'The combination of WhatsApp and Facebook will allow us to connect many more people round the world,' Zuckerberg said.

'We want to develop more mobile experiences like Instagram and Messenger.

'WhatApp fits this vision perfectly, it has incredibly strong engagement and growth.'

'It's the only app we've ever seen that has grown more quickly than Facebook itself.'

'Their product roadmap is very exciting and won't change.

'Overall, I'm very excited about this deal.

'WhatsApp had every option in the world, so I'm thrilled they chose us.'

As part of the deal, WhatsApp co-founder and Chief Executive Jan Koum will join Facebook's board, and the social network will grant an additional $3 billion worth of restricted stock units to WhatsApp's founders, including Koum.

Experts say the deal could help Facebook attract teens.

Professor Will Stewart from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) said: 'Obviously WhatsApp adds instant messaging to Facebook which must strengthen their position for the moment.

'Equally, all app types rise and fade, so established social media formats like Facebook will be overtaken by something new, and picking up candidates that might have ultimately replaced them may be a good survival strategy for a while.

'This does show the growing significance of mobile, though of course Facebook is on mobile anyway.

'But, Facebook has been around a while now so the real question is what comes next?'

Comic actor and MTN brand am-bassador, Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka is bereaved

Comic actor and MTN brand am-bassador, Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka is currently in a deep sorrow. He lost his father Pa Dauda Oyetoro to the cold of hands of death last Saturday.

The 98-year-old Pa Dauda reportedly died  at about 11am.

Commenting on his father demise, Saka said he was happy that his father witnessed the great transformation in his life, adding it pained him that he couldn’t do much for him due to old age. “I wish my dad was a little younger to enjoy his fruit of  labour. I am happy that he witnessed the transformation in my life, and I tried to make him share in the good life but he was just too old to do anything,” Saka lamented.

He was in Abuja for a movie production when he received a call that his father had passed on.

His father’s remains have since been laid to rest according to Islamic rites at his country home in Koso, Iseyin, Oyo State.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... they believe Justin was under the influence of both drugs and alcohol.
We're told the resisting arrest charge stems from Bieber refusing to take his hands out of his pockets when ordered to do so by cops.
Bieber is now in custody and is at the police department where he is being tested -- presumably to more precisely measure his blood alcohol level. Our law enforcement sources say Justin was given a field sobriety test at the scene ... and failed. His next stop will be jail, where he will be booked and processed and bail will be set.

We're told Bieber had just left a club and was driving a yellow Lamborghini at the time cops spotted him in a residential neighborhood.  Our sources say Justin's people actually blocked the street off so Bieber could drag race.

Sources say the person Justin was racing with was also arrested. We're told that driver was Khalil, a well-known rapper on Def Jam Records.  He was in a red Lambo.

Justin had a passenger in the car -- a model.

The traffic stop was for drag racing and cops determined he was driving under the influence.

United states not Happy over Nigeria Ban on Same sex Marriage

The United States on Monday criticized Nigeria for approving a law that punishes same-sex marriage with prison, saying the move would curtail basic human rights.

Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States was “deeply concerned” by Nigeria’s new law which “dangerously restricts freedom of assembly, association and expression for all Nigerians.”
Kerry said the act “is inconsistent with Nigeria’s international legal obligations and undermines the democratic reforms and human rights protections enshrined in its 1999 constitution.”

“People everywhere deserve to live in freedom and equality. No one should face violence or discrimination for who they are or who they love,” Kerry said in a statement.

Under the new law, anyone in a same-sex marriage or union would face up to 14 years in prison, with such partnerships reached overseas considered void in Nigeria.

President Goodluck Jonathan signed the law because he considered it consistent with most Nigerians’ views toward homosexuality, his spokesman, Reuben Abati, told AFP.

The United States has generally warm relations with Nigeria but President Barack Obama’s administration has increasingly put a priority on fighting for gay rights overseas.

In Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni has said that he will not rush into signing a law under which gays would be jailed after criticism from Obama, Nobel laureate Desmond Tutu and other global figures.(AFP)

Only few ministers will withstand the upcoming cabinet reshuffle and keep their seats.

Only few ministers will withstand the upcoming cabinet reshuffle and keep their seats.

Thin information has been gathered by Daily Post.

The ministers who are likely to keep their positions are Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum Resources; Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance; Dr Akinwumi Adesina, Agriculture Minister; and Labaran Maku, Minister of Information.

The list of those who may lose their seats includes Nyesom Wike, Minister of State for Education; Stella Oduah, Aviation Minister; Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, Minister of State; Prof. Chinedu Osita Nebo, Minister for Power; Elder Peter Godsday Orubebe, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs; and Hajia Zainab Maina, Federal Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, among others.

Earlier, on January 9, President Goodluck Jonathan announced that the list of nominees to fill the vacant ministerial positions would be forwarded to the Senate on Tuesday (tomorrow).

The candidates are meant to fill the 12 vacancies created when some ministers were dropped in a minor cabinet shake-up about seven months ago.
A source told Leadership that the decision for a cabinet reshuffle was the reason for the delay in naming replacements for the sacked ministers and the three vacancies occasioned by the dropping of Mohammed Haliru Bello as Minister of Defence, Inuwa Abdulkadir as Minister of Youth Development, and the resignation of Dr. Ali Pate as Minister of State for Health.

"President Jonathan would not want to go to the Senate in piecemeal. What it means is that he would want to submit a holistic list of nominees that will serve the tenure with him in 2015 to the Senate," said the source.

"The issue is beyond who is close to the president and who is not; what is most important is that the man has made up his mind to make changes not only at the level of the ministers but along all strata of the presidency, including Special Advisers, assistants and others," the source added.

Hairdresser" to wife of a former Nigerian leader was allocated Oil Block worth $225,000 a day.

"Hairdresser" to wife of a former Nigerian leader was allocated Oil Block worth $225,000 a day.

... I never forgot this headline in 2004, shortly after I arrived in Nigeria.

The UK newspapers quickly asked me to track down the so-called hairdresser... but no one wanted to give me the name of the hairdresser.

The original revelation came from Cairo Ojougbo to House Committee on Petroleum Resources and one newspaper story at the time included the paragraph:

"There are rumours that the oil block is worth up to $1billion, but hurrying to another meeting, the head of Nigeria's Parliament's Petroleum Resources Committee, Dr Cairo Ojougbo, refuted the claim: "Oh no, it's worth much more."

Of course, so much money can't hide forever and I have now finally tracked her down!

It turns out the so-called hairdresser is now the richest black woman in the world - Mrs Folorunsho Alakija.

In November 2013, Forbes put her net worth at $2.5billion but some estimates say she is now worth $7.3billion.

I think this succinct description of Alakija's background from PMNews ties her nicely to the oil block:

"She worked as a secretary in a Nigerian Merchant bank in the 1970s and later left to study fashion design in England. She subsequently founded Supreme Stitches, a Nigerian fashion label that catered for upscale clientele, including the late Maryam Babangida, wife of Nigeria’s former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida.

It was during the reign of Babangida that her company Famfa Oil got an oil prospecting license which went on to become OML 127, one of Nigeria’s most prolific oil blocks. Famfa Oil owned a 60% stake in the block until 2000, when then President Olusegun Obasanjo acquired a 50% interest in the block. Famfa Oil went to court to challenge the acquisition, and the Nigerian Supreme Court reinstated the 50% stake to Famfa Oil in May 2012.

Her 60 per cent stake in the block is currently valued at around $7.3 billion, Ventures Africa reported."

There was 'shock' at the time of the revelations, but now... posters of her have appeared tying her in a bid to run for Lagos Governor.

Before his illness and miraculous recovery, Babatunde Okungbowa aka OJB Jezreel‘s family never came under the light. Sure, we were all aware he was legally married to three wives but other than his first wife Mabel, we never really knew who the others were or how many children they had for him.

NET investigations have revealed the music producer is blessed with eight children (yup, I guess we can all cut 2face Idibia some slack now). It was gathered that OJB is actively involved in the lives of his wives and children and they all seem happy with their husband.

The entire family was involved when he battled ill-health. And it was his eldest wife, Mabel, who eventually donated a kidney for the producer’s transplant.

OJB has three kids with his first wife Mabel, three with his second, Ama and two with his third, Korede.  All three ladies have a deep background in music and entertainment. Check out their family photos below

Kaka scores his 100th Goal

kaka’s goal against Atalanta at San Siro saw his AC Milan record move on to 100 goals on Monday, Goal reports.

The Brazilian sealed his century of strikes by scoring in the 35th minute to give Massimiliano Allegri’s side a 1-0 lead in their Serie A clash.

Urby Emanuelson led a Milan counter-attack with a surging run and played in Kaka, who netted a composed finish past goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.

To acknowledge reaching the landmark, Kaka celebrated the goal by holding up a Milan strip with ‘Kaka 100’ to the home supporters.

Meet the Boy with 34 fingers and toes

The Indian boy broke the world record after being born with 34 fingers and toes.

Akshat Saxena had seven fingers on each hand and ten toes on each foot, according to a spokesman for Guinness World Records.

The child, from Uttar Pradesh in northern India, has since had a series of surgeries to amputate the excess digits. Akshat was born in 2010 without thumbs so doctors are working to reconstruct these out of the fingers they have removed.

His mother Amrita Saxena said: "I was so happy to see my baby as it was our first child.

"But later, when I saw his fingers, I was shocked and surprised."

The condition is known as polydactyly, a genetic disorder which can be inherited and gives rise to excess digits.

Most commonly, the extra digits appear on the little finger side of the hand.
Mrs Saxena said it was a family friend who convinced them Akshat was extremely special.

She said: "He read on the internet about the baby born in China with 31 fingers. Then he said that my boy has broken the record of having 34 fingers. At first, I was not convinced at all. It was hard to believe that my son has broken the record.

"But later, he along with my husband and my younger sister registered the data in the Internet."

The record was previously held by a six-year-old boy in China who had 15 fingers and 16 toes.

I can act nude for $50m – Amanda Ebeye Nollywood actress

Nollywood Actress, Amanda Ebeye has stated that she can act nude in any Nollywood movie if given 7.5billion naira.

In a recent interview with The PUNCH, the ‘Clinic Matters’ star said “I cannot act nude but like I have said before, if you pay me about $50m, I will. Please who is the first to pay? I can shave my hair because I’m an actress. If the role requires it, if it is a beautiful script and the money is good, I will do it. It will not be because it is the trend. It is not because Mercy Johnson did it, so I should, no, that is not enough reason. Right now, the script has to be outstanding for me to be interested in shaving off my hair.”

On growing up, she said “I was a stubborn kid. I was never a tomboy. I don’t know how to bounce or sag for the world but stubborn, fighting for my rights and the rights of others, yes. I always wanted to defend others in need. That’s why often, they used to say I knew how to ‘buy’ other people’s matter. But my friends would say I had and will always have the heart of a child because no matter how much I fight you, I’ll always feel bad and be the first to tell you sorry.”
